I don’t know about you, but I think you will agree it can be a stressful time when organising an event, Trade show or marketing campaign?

Let me tell you a story about when it goes wrong.

My good friend of mine who has a landscaping business decided he was going to invest in a stand at the Garden Show at the NEC a few years back, and he had put much time, thought and money into what he wanted and what he hoped to achieve from the trade show.

His goal was to get his brand out there, network but mainly to get customer leads as he wanted to grow his business and take it to the next level and expand.

The trade show went great he had generated many leads over the day and had filled his diary. He was excited and couldn’t wait to contact them all to arrange to look at their gardens to discuss his, and their ideas and of course get all the new business confirmed and booked.

When he got home, he put his bag down which had the diary with all the customer’s contact details, times, addresses in the living room where he always did and went into the kitchen to tell his wife about how well the day went.

In horror what he saw was his young son recently diagnosed with autism ripping his diary to shreds which is what he does when he is anxious or angry and by ripping up paper (usually a telephone book) helps him to calm down.

Safe to say my friend was devastated but he knew it was his fault for leaving it there as his son couldn’t know how important the pieces of paper he was ripping to shreds were.
